Violence Against Women Services
What is it:
The Renascence Program is a community-based counselling program that provides confidential individual and group counselling and referral support for women over the age of 16 who have experienced gender-based violence. The services are provided in person or virtually (phone or video).
The Renascence Program offers the following services:
- Information on rights, options and available services
- Support (individual counselling and within a group setting)
- Advocacy
- Safety planning
- Referrals to other community services
- Counselling to address impacts of gender-based violence and sexual assault
- Trauma counselling
- Service coordination and collaboration with other services involved in supporting clients
Who is it For:
The Renascence program is for women over the age of 16 who have experienced gender-based violence (physical, emotional or sexual abuse by their partner or significant other) as well as sexual assault, including sexual abuse in childhood.
Goals:
- To enhance women’s understanding of the patterns and impact of gender-based violence in order to break the cycle of gender-based violence for future generations
- To advocate for women and their dependents, ensuring their safety and well-being
- To support women to be healthy as partners and as parents
- To enhance the safety of women and their dependents through the development of personalized safety plans
- To assist women in supporting their children impacted by witnessing gender-based violence
